Why not to try something new?

Every day, driving to work I watch billboards with ads of the Modern Art Museum  – Varna and thought that might be interesting to visit such a place.

The museum is a place that fuels creativity, ignites minds and provides inspiration for most of the people. Honestly, I am not a fan of visiting museums now but I used to do that when I was in US.

Actually the reason is not only that in Bulgaria are missing museums, it’s just not that popular and people do not pay much attention to this. That’s  a bit strange, because a lot of  modern artists experiment with new ways of seeing and with fresh ideas about the nature of material which I really found interesting.

Regrettably, the number of great modern art museum in Bulgaria is close to zero; however numbers of fascinating and talented artist is significant. The poor art structure makes most of them totally unknown. I believe that a digital initiative for modern art is really fitting the art sphere of Bulgaria.

Youtube play

If you think your YouTube videos are really good they deserve to be in a museum, you are in the right place? The search giant Google and one of the most significant contemporary art museums Guggenheim Museum are collaborating on a new project called YouTube Video Play. The project will showcase up to 20 video works submitted to YouTube at the Guggenheim in New York on October 21, and online at www.youtube.com/play

The videos will also be displayed on October 21 at other Guggenheim museums around the world including Bilbao, Spain; Venice, Italy; and Berlin, Germany.

Who can play?

The Play is available to any video maker in the world and submissions can include “animation, motion graphics, documentary work, music videos and entirely new art forms,” according to the official YouTube blog.

To be considered for Play you have to submit your work of video art to www.youtube.com/play by July 31, 2010. All submissions will be reviewed by Guggenheim representatives who will create a shortlist of video finalists to be considered by a jury.

In the spirit of the online art movement

The exhibition aims to collect artwork from some of “the most unusual talent working in the sphere of online video.”

“The Guggenheim”, YouTube, and HP share a view that creative online video is one of the most compelling and innovative opportunities for personal expression today.
