Farewell, Varna
I still clearly remember my arrival in Bulgaria. On that Friday 21st of January 2011 my flight, operated by Bulgaria Air, landed on the tarmac of Varna at 5:05 pm. Euro RSCG 4D Bulgaria had commissioned their chauffeur to come to fetch me at the airport.
What ensued after this moment, are six months that will forever be inked in my memories. Not because it is a nice boring thing to say, but because I mean it, and for many reasons.
As I am writing these words, I am waiting for my next plane towards Paris from Sofia Airport. It’s 10:20 a.m. Or nine hours after a last farewell to the city of Varna.
Now what brought me to Bulgaria and WHY, why? More often than not, this question came back very persistently during my various encounters with Bulgarians. It’s a paradox but people couldn’t understand why a French guy would want to come to work in Bulgaria when so many Bulgarians are dreaming of leaving their country in hope of a better life abroad. True, I could have chosen some other country like Australia, China, Hong-Kong, Germany, United States or even stay in France. Just like many of my classmates from the Toulouse Business School who took a year off from their studies to gain professional experience in their field.
To their question my answer was always – why not??!! Bulgaria offered me a field to express myself professionally at a management level. In a country where sadly, too many talented managers fly to work abroad. I couldn’t think of any other country where top managers would entrust various strategic accounts to an intern. With my specialty being International marketing management I wanted to bring a more digital approach to the classic consumer panels classes and marketing approach we had at our school. I was fortunate enough to find this digital aspiration possible at Euro RSCG 4D Bulgaria.
During the past six months, online strategy consultancy, website auditing, website creation supervision, client relationship, client social media management and ad hoc event design print coordination were among the various duties I have been assigned to. Besides, with the help of the team, I managed to build up a webTV show involving the fans of the company’s Facebook page and regularly write for the Lift, Euro RSCG 4D’s blog. So when I look back to what has been achieved, my expectations were totally exceeded. This is why I would recommend any ambitious business students looking forward to craft their management skills to work with Euro RSCG 4D Bulgaria.
Now after a year full of professional experiences, I’m going to move on to finish my studies at the ESEC Barcelona business school. There I will be taking up a professional option called Business Services Enterprise Management to improve my management skills and to shape up my career.
